Random Spontaneous Stuff!

OMG, it has been way too long since I'm updated!!!! I wonder how some bloggers are able to keep it up. Sometimes I think back and wonder how I did it XD
Have you ever done something soo random and spontaneous that when you look back you wonder..did I really do that?
Well for me it's quite rare but I did it 2 times and both times was a trip to NYC. Remember the MTV music awards? I was watching it with 3 of my friends and after we saw the Eminem performance, sometime during the show the host said Eminem was on his way to NYC for a concert. So my friends thought, wouldn't it be so crazy if we went to NYC to see the Eminem and Jay-Z concert? And so.. we did just that. Most amazing thing everrrr.

Since we went to NYC we might as well wander around. We didn't have much time to do anything so we mainly wandered around the Soho area, and that's where I found these super yummy cupcakes and yogurt.

And who could go to NYC without making a stop at Mitsuwa. I seriously never would have thought that I could go there because it's so far away. As cool as it is to see all these Japanese products in person, I was a bit disappointed at their selection. But oh well, I didn't leave empty handed.

I thought the ramen was kind of expensive, but totally worth it. It's not easy to find such a good ramen place in Toronto. I'm so glad I tried it at Mitsuwa, it was super tasty ^__^

My small haul. I didn't intend on doing a lot of shopping anyway. I did get a new toner and face cream for day time use. It's the B&C Hearty Lab Soy Bean products. You can find them at Imomoko here, it's actually the same price at Mitsuwa. I haven't gotten around in using them yet since I still have a bit of stuff to finish. I'm quite interested to see how the moisturizer gel will work in the dry Canadian winter.
I also purchased the Cover Girl tinted moisturizer. It was cheap and I can't buy it in Canada anyway, so might as well XD

And last but not least, some new masks I got from Tim! I've never heard of these before. It's called My Scheming (from Taiwan I believe), which is very strange. I didn't make that up! It says on the package hehe, which I find very cute.

This morning I used the Milk Extract Brightening Mask. The mask size fits my face very well. Compared to the My Beauty Diary masks, these ones are thinner and stay put on my face. I left it on for about 15-20 mins and it took a few minutes for the liquid to fully absorb into my skin.
I didn't really notice any immediate brightening effects, I only noticed that my skin felt a bit tighter and I'm not sure if it's in the good way or bad dry way.

I have a couple new products to show everyone some time this week, stay tuned =D

Toronto Food!

No makeup today, too busy to even think about makeup, although I do have my update of B-liv ready..but I haven't edited the pictures yet.

Tim and I have started a thing where we try to eat food according to Best Of Toronto on BlogTO. But with school and the lack of funds, we could only try so much at one time.
I think we've found our favourite burger, onion rings and fries place at the moment. It's at a small burger place called Craft Burger. I thought I went to heaven and back after eating there.
If you're in the Bloor & Yonge (right across the Toronto Reference Library) or King & Spadina area, this is THE place for the above mentioned foods. They were listed on BlogTO as one of the best new restaurants that serve the top burgers, fries and rings. It's a local joint that serves freshly made food to order and the people there are so nice.

So far, I've only been there twice and I ordered the same thing: Craft Signature. It has rosemary garlic mayo, mushrooms, lettuce and tomatoes...I'm drooling just thinking about the mayo.
The onion rings are so cripsy even after I finish eating the burger first.
Yesterday, we opted for the poutine (which is also on the best of toronto list) instead of regular fries, something we didn't regret. The gravy is sweet and savoury at the same time with a hint of onion flavour.

A walk after lunch is necessary...look at the size of that burger. Oh, just for the record, we had a total of 2 burgers, I don't think I would have shared mine with Tim, and we cleaned our plates. It's funny how some people couldn't finish theirs!
For a price that's similar to say..Harvey's, I'd rather make the trip downtown to get something that tastes so much better.

Last week while we were looking for another burger place near Yonge and Eglinton, we stumbled upon one of Toronto's best cupcakes at The Cupcake Shoppe.
There are mixed reviews about these cupcakes, but I think they were pretty good..not really worth the $13/half dozen though.

Yellow As Lemons

I know I haven't really been around blogger a lot. I'm still unemployed and I'm not sure where to go from here. I'm home about 90% of the time and don't really have motivation to blog and use with my makeup when I'm not going out.
But good thing for me, there's a 2 day job fair at downtown Toronto that I'm going to attend on Wednesday. I really hope that there are some job offers for Hong Kong, that'll be quite ideal for me.

Here's a long overdue swatch of the LE MM nail polish. I had a very difficult time locating it in Hong Kong, probably because it's so popular, so I ended up picking it up in Tokyo.
This is the YE242 shade, super bright yellow, great for the summer, too bad I've only started using it right when summer is ending hehe.
I also have a picture with the D Nails Gel Look Topcoat. You can purchase this on Ichibankao for about $23USD. I got mine for about 1500yen.

The D Nails is top coat is supposed to give your polish a gel nail like finish by being super glossy/shiny. I honestly didn't really notice a huge difference with this and the usual PA top coat I use.
This top coat is made in the states and I'm sure you can find something similar in North America. I don't think it's really worth the 1500yen because it's not over the top glossy.

The yellow polish is very similar to the Vita Lemon Teas, yum!

Since I don't have anything to do at the moment, I started to spend more time cooking. I made this Buttery Apple Cake from the William's Sonoma Savouring Desserts cook book.

I've been meaning to do a look with the Lunasol Dazzling Light palette, but I can't seem to get it to work for me. Maybe because I'm not used to using such dark colors, but when I apply it like I normally do for shadows, it just looks weird. I tried following Fuz's look with the palette, but it still looks strange on me. Hope to get it right soon.

Hair, Gloss and Food

Haha, my titles are so uncreative.
My latest addition to my lippy collection. I purchased this Maquillage Perfect Gloss in PK353 while in Tokyo. PK353 is the gloss that's on the model that's holding the coffee cup, I can't remember the name. This came out in July and it's supposed to be part of the Maquillage x Alexander Wang collection.
The picture didn't come out quite the way I wanted. It's a bit more coral than pink. The gloss has fine golden shimmers which is uber pretty.
I find it a bit sticky, but it's long lasting. I do have a rant though, even when I wipe the gloss off, my lips still feel a bit sticky.
The applicator is a flat spatula with fuzzyness on both sides. I really like this applicator since it's easier to apply evenly than then doe foot imo.

My attempt at super voluming my hair.

I applied the Marc Anthony hair thickener to damp hair then blow dry (the hair dryer I have is so crappy, it's not hot enough bah!). Then I put 1.5inch curlers, 1 on my bangs, 1 on both sides and 2 at the back then sprayed the Lucidol curling water and put heat on it.
After doing my makeup, I take out the curlers then curl the ends of my hair inward and outwards with a large barrel iron. Scrunched up my hair with some Liese Designing Jelly in Nuance Wave and used Lucidol Designing Pot in Smash Fixer near my roots. Finish off with Osis hair spray.
Whew! So many things just for my hair, I wish it wasn't so flat. The Liese Designing Jelly was advertised in the Vivi magazines with Chikako (spelling?). It's a very runny gel like product. It gives my curls enough hold to last the whole day and just one pump is enough for all my hair. You can get it on Ichibankao.com If you download the Nuance Wave demo vid here, you can see in the video that pieces hair is supposed to stay if you just push it up a bit, and I can confirm that it doesn't do that, at least not with my hair.
Next time, I'm going to try adding the Osis dusting powder in hopes for more volume.

Did you know I've never made an omlette in my life, until yesterday? Haha..I never thought I could do it, but I didn't want the typical scrambled eggs. I made mine with sauteed mushrooms, cheddar and some proscuitto. Mmm...

I love breakfast foods. It's been a while since I've been to Cora's for their breakfasts. It closes at 3pm and there's only 2 locations that I know of in Toronto. Omg, it's so freaking good, but expensive.

More Circle Lenses

Just a quickie!
Here's the other pair of Geo lenses from Asian Fashion City. These are the Geo Angel Browns. According to Asian Fashion City, the difference with the Angels and Nudy is the Angels have a black rim on the outer edges of the lenses while the Nudy ones don't. The Nudy lenses are also lighter, which I suppose means more natural.
I hate to have a complaint about these lenses, but they didn't stay centered very well. If I look all the way left/right, I can feel the lenses moving. Other than that they look quite natural and you only notice your lenses if you look closer imo. I don't think these really make my eyes that much bigger, but it gives them that bit of somethin somethin.

Eye makeup is JS jelly eye color in 08 and 01 and lined with MM Neo Automatic Liner in BK911. The JS e/s are very vibrant and pigmented, but I noticed that they faded after a few hours =/

I went to On The Border again for some Tex Mex food, so tasty.
I'm gonna miss this restaurant, Toronto doesn't have a nice selection of Tex Mex food..not that I know of at least.

Being very outdated...I finally saw Transformers 2 yesterday! Now I really want to see Harry Potter but Tim isn't too thrilled about that.
I went to CGV to see the movie and it was LOUD, way louder than the theaters in Toronto. Then I went to the washroom afterwards and this was the stall..puhaha.

Nothing to special for my Saturday. Just saw a movie and went to Hongdae for Greek food, not too sure what it was called. We had a 2 person meal for 27,000won. It included a small Greek salad, some strange cream soup, 1 slice of bread cut up wtih taziki sauce for dipping, 1 skewer of vegies, chicken and seafood, 1 gyro and some sort of tomato pasta that was kinda sweet. Even though there was a large variety, the food was mediocre...can't wait to have some real Greek food back in Toronto.

Lazy lazy Sunday... I took a nap..and now I'm gonna watch How I Met Your Mother..

Finished!

Guess what? My blog has reached 300 followers *big grin* Thankq to all who are reading my blog! I wouldn't have imagine that anyone would be interested hehe. I started my blog last August, so it's almost blog birthday time! I'm deciding whether I should do another giveaway, we'll see =D

Lookie here, I've finished my jar of P&J Moisture Cream. Lucky for me I had a backup jar that Tim's dad helped me get. I've been using it since March only for night time and this little 1.1oz jar has lasted me about 5 months. Money well spent I tell you. I also finished my 2nd bottle of the Orbis Cleansing Liquid. I'm currently using a Hanskin cleansing oil, will do a review a bit later.

I went bowling on Friday again. Very cheap compared to Toronto. I played 2 games with a few friends for only 8000won/person (less than $8CAD), including shoes.
I'm trying to do a silly face while Tim is trying to look normal puhaha.

A friend of ours went to have Mexican food near Sinchon Station and said it was good, so we had to try it out. I think it's more Tex-Mex than actual Mexican.
Tim and I went there for dinner tonight and we're stuffed!! If you go to Sinchon Station, take exit 4. You'll see McD and Burger King to your left. Continue straight for about a minute and you'll see On The Border on the second floor to your left.

Our friend said the restaurant served American sized portions. I was so excited to see the variety on the menu that we ordered 2 entrees plus and appetizer, bad idea. The portions were indeed American sized.
I ordered chicken enchilladas that came with a side of rice and refried beans. It was SOOOO goood!! The chicken was tender and everything was so flavourful and fresh. I only ate 1.5 out of the 3 enchilladas, it'll be dinner for tomorrow.

Tim had the Montery Jack cheese and bacon chicken fajitas.

Our appetizer was the chicken flaunta. They are corn tortillas stuffed with ground chicken, rolled up and fried to a golden brown. Served with queso dipping sauce. Not too sure what the sauce was made of.
We should have ordered the guacamole. The guacamole that came with Tim's fajitas were the best I've had so far. If we ordered it, the waiter would have prepared it fresh right in front of us. Too bad..next time it's a must!

It came up to about 57,000won with tax and tip included.

Octopus Soup

Makeup hasn't really been on my mind lately which is why I haven't been posting as often. I'm not too creative and I can't seem to come up with something different =p

Yesterday, I had dinner with the principal and a few teachers as a "farewell", it was interesting. Seeing some of my teachers drink and getting a bit too comfortable with each other. 

I got there a little late. As soon as I sat down, Korean style, I saw a pot of hot soup and a lady come to the table, yak a few words and came back with a bowl and a plate of vegies on top. 

I knew we were having some sort of seafood and I'm cool with that. When the soup started to boil, the lady came back and took the dish off the bowl. Inside, there were like 3 octopus with heads about the size of my palm. The lady then proceeded to dump the octopus into the boiling pot and to my surprise, the octopus were still alive! They were grabbing and squirming around in the bowl and pot!! Omg!!! 

I like octopus, but seeing it get cooked like that ruined my appetite. I didn't eat a lot of it, although surprisingly, the octopus tentacles were very tender after it was cooked. 

The lady came back a little later and started to cut the octopus head, guts, brains and all, into a few pieces and the teachers started to chow down on it...that my friends...was disgusting...  

Here's the video, I sound so surprised haha. I'm kinda glad they cooked it rather than eat it alive. I wanted to try live octopus, but now, not so much.

Purple Eyes!!

My attempt at doing a different purple eye is 99% success!! =D=D=D haha. The 1% is not getting it pigmented enough. I used Michelle Phan's Purple Hazy Look on YT as a guide to what to do. Love her videos.
The white palette is from Yumeko and the one on the right is the Lunasol purple gradation palette. I originally wanted to do the whole look using the white palette, but I found the colors not pigmented enough so I went over them with the Lunasol palette. I also used the top left shade from Lunasol but forgot to mark it.

Simple look, very little to fuss over. I thought the falsies were what gave that finished "glamour" look for this EOTD.

There was a lack of lighting in my box, but I did my best. This was my first attempt to line the lower lashline and take a picture of it. I often think I look odd with the lower lashline done, so I leave it. I think when I don't line the lower lashline, it's a more natural way to do my makeup, because of course I don't wanna look toooo different without makeup.

I tried to do sort of a feathered wing, I think it came out ok. Just make sure you smudge it with a sponge tip applicator and add enough shadow to make it apparent.

The colors are a lot more vibrant in person. I have a bit of trouble putting on the half falsies, I can't seem to get one end of it to stick well.

Omg..look at my eyebrows HAHA! I still haven't attempted to shape them myself, except pluck the strays, and I'm feeling too chicken shit to use a brow pencil. My skin gets quite oily and I don't want a fading eyebrow. I was going to get the Laneige brow set, but decided against it, because I know once I do my brows, I'm gonna have to do them often so I don't look sickly when I go out.

Baskin Robbins has a super cute summer theme! They have blue cups with polar bears on them. There are also some new ice cream cakes. I just remember the lion one being new, can't remember the rest.

I'm making my list of "To Buy" for Hong Kong and it doesn't look too big. The main things I want to get are the P&J Whitening Serum, Muji brushes (super soft!!!), JS Jelly Eyes and some Beauty Maker if I can find it. I'm thinking of buying less HE brands this time.
Something non makeup related would be some more Re-ment and a designer handbag, which I don't have. I really want an Agnes B handbag, but couldn't find one I like the last time I was in HK.

I'm in a bit of a pickle. I don't know if I should keep my P&J foundation. I seem to scratch my face a lot more when I'm using it and it comes off a lot easier than the Lunasol foundation....but, I barely even used the P&J. ARrrghhh.... what to do.. Maybe I should see it how it fares through winter...

Lunasol Morning Wakening Massage

Just a quick blurb...
I kept forgetting to use this Morning Wakening Massage gel until now. I got this as part of the Lunasol Anniversary Base Makeup Set.
This is a hefty sample, with 10g of product. It sells for 45,000won(about $35USD) for 40g at the Lotte Department Store and $49.00USD on Ichibankao.
It's got a very pleasant florally fruity scent so it kinda wakes you up. It comes in a lovely frosted glass jar, so pretty for a sample!

The first time I used the gel, I didn't like it because it felt sticky afterwards. I used maybe about a quarter size and just did a quick 2 minute massage on my face. After massaging there's no need to rinse and the gel should absorb into your skin, but it didn't feel like it absorbed very well.

The next few times I used the gel, I used a smaller amount, about a nickel size, and only massaged my cheek and forehead areas. After massaging, I used a tissue to blot any access gel and this prevented my skin from feeling sticky.
I use this after cleansing my face but before toner and lotion. My skin didn't feel dry or tight afterwards, just soft and smooth.

The gel is great at letting my fingers slide around easily on my face. I just massage my cheeks and marionette lines and use my fingers to massage little circles on my forehead. It feels very nice but I don't feel that this is a necessity.
I wish I had more time in the morning to use this massage gel, but because I already wake up early and don't want to do anything, this isn't a "must have" item for me.

This is my mini photoshoot studio for my products hehehe. I just use a piece of black or white paper and prop it up with something, in this case, a tube of lotion.
When I put the item down to take a picture, it's usually heavy enough to hold the base of the paper so I get a nice smooth background.
Depending on the lighting, you won't get a shadow behind the product and it looks a lot nicer than taking it on a regular wall background.

I felt like Indian food yesterday, so I went back to Yeti in Hongdae with a few friends. I can't tell you the directions because it's kinda confusing. Let's just say, if you walk around enough around Hongdae near some of the clubs, you should see a Smoothie King. The restaurant is right next to it in the basement.
This is the "Yeti Special" for 13,000won. It also includes naan and chai tea, but I didn't get a picture. When i got this dish, I was like, "this is so small!!!" But surprisingly, this was really filling, I didn't even finish everything. The tandoori chicken was so tender and flavourful, the potatoes perfectly cooked and drizzled with oil that had a hint of cumin. The butter chicken was very aromatic and the chicken pieces were so tender. The yellowish curry I wasn't too sure what it was. It had rice and it was just good haha.

I apologize for the lack of..umm..postings and such. Haven't been in blogging mode for a while. I need to purchase more stuff!!! So you probably won't see me pumping out more than 2-3 posts a week.
Did I tell you I've booked my plane ticket home? But I don't know when I'll get my e-ticket since I'm waiting for the school to pay. I'm leaving right at the end of August. Too little time now!

I had a meet up with Kay from Bihada Diaries on Sunday, she wasn't able to make it last time due to the swine flu warnings. Anyway, I had so much fun!!!! Kay is such a sweet girl.
I rarely get any girls day out anymore. The last time I did was when I met up with Beauty Addict and Aichaku about a month ago. Come to think of it... I think these were the only times I had a girls day out.

Kay and I went to Myeong Dong to do some major shopping. She thought she could scare me with her huge shopping list haha.
We stopped by Donut Plant to get some more shopping fuel. I had a vanilla choco donut while Kay had a banana walnut choco donut, so yummy.

After all the shopping, we at at Kraze (pronounced Kra-zay) for dinner. Don't you love how we take a picture AFTER eating the food?

The funniest part was, I didn't buy a lot. I only got a Hanskin O2 Cleansing Oil Black Head, a Skinfood Jojoba Heel Pack (for Tim's foot) and the Maquillage Moisture Rouge in PK705 (sheer). But I still ended up with this mountain of stuff.
Everytime the SAs standing outside the stores offered stuff to us, Kay and I would grab it and walk in a quick circle in the store. Love it. I got more cotton pads than items I bought.


Kay gave me a gift!! She gave me a Lux conditioner, Pocky (yumyum), orange gummies and a super cute pop-up Hello Kitty blotting paper!!! The pocket will be gone tonight...do I hear dessert?
