Concealer Comparisons

This is a scheduled post...
Finally did some comparisons with the concealers side by side. I only own 4 that I use for my eye area, and 1 of them doubles as a regular concealer.
These aren't the best pictures of my eyes, mostly because I never took good care of my eye area. I never gave it a thought until last year, so it's in pretty bad shape puhaha. But I did my best to show you some pictures. I had all the concealers on for at least 3 hours.

I forgot to label the before/after on the pictures.
First is the Maquillage Liquid Concealer in Natural and Sana Concealer. The Maquillage concealer comes in a clicky pen dispenser. Sometimes the product doesn't come out immediately so I press it 2 times. The second time I press it, there's enough for 2 eyes. I don't use the brush attachment, just my fingers.
The Sana Concealer just comes in a yellow tube with a pointed dispenser. Nothing special. I did a short review on this a while ago, but this time I'm comparing it with the rest of the concealers.
Prior to getting the BM and Lunasol concealer, I used both Maquillage and Sana at the same time because Sana didn't provide enough coverage, but it helped neutralize the darkness. The Sana Concealer gave my eye area a pretty good base to apply the Maquillage.
The first picture is without any product.

This next picture, Sana is on the leftside and Maquillage on the right. You can see how Sana helped reduce the darkness, but didn't cover much. Same goes for the Maquillage concealer. It's got light to medium coverage, so this won't work for those who have dark eye circles. You can still see that the area near my nose is still a bit dark.

3 hours later, there's some creasing on the Maquillage side. There was no creasing on the Sana side, but there wasn't enough coverage anyway.

The next comparison is with the Beauty Maker Aqua Concealer for under the eye area. This is in shade #2? (natural) The Lunasol Concealer is the Under Eyes Base 01.
The BM concealer comes in a sleek black compact with a mirror inside. The product is super creamy and smooth.
The Lunasol concealer is a sample, which is taking me a long time to finish. The sample is just in a tube. It appears slightly orangey imo.
This is the before shot:

On the left side of the picture is the Beauty Maker and the right side is the Lunasol.
You can see both faired well against each other. The only difference I noticed was Lunasol appeared more orangey. Also a little bit goes a long way for Lunasol. If I over apply, my eye area would look orangey.

After 3 hours, both did held up very well, although I experienced some slight creasing for both.

After doing the tests with all the concealers, I think BM would be my favourite out of the lot. It covered very well and lasted a long time. Even though it might crease a bit in the fine lines, this could easily be fixed/blended in with a q-tip. BM is also affordable, on Imomoko, it's only $13.

My new baby! A few years ago, I bought the Fuji Pivi. It's like a mini printer but for your cellphone. I got too lazy to use the Pivi because I had to send photos from my cellphone using infared so I got this camera instead.
As soon as I saw it, I knew I had to get it one day. I've already been eyeing this camera for a while. This is the Fuji Instax Mini 7. It's similar to a Polaroid, but these pictures are the size of business cards. Very cute and only 75,000won! I went back to the camera store to get it just in time for my trip =p

Anyway, I should be in Hong Kong by the time this is posted. I won't be blogging till 2 weeks later. Thankq for the comments on my previous post, I'll get back to blogging as soon as I'm back =D

Updated: My Usual Makeup Routine

I meant to do a post last Friday but there was a last minute decision to go to Busan for the weekend so I didn't have time.
I have an updated version of my usual makeup routine. I've been keeping this same routine for the past 2 weeks. It's getting SO hot here so I don't want my eyeshadow to melt while I'm teaching. I can't believe my freckles appear so well in the video (if you watch it in HD)! Plus I keep making funny faces and sticking my nostrils into the camera XD
Such a creepy still haha.

For those of you who didn't catch the products in the video here they are. I didn't realize that the shade/color names would be blurred.

Lunasol Control Makeup Base Moisture 01
Lunasol Modeling Water Liquid Foundation

Sana Concealer
Maquillage Liquid Concealer Natural
Lunasol Micro Finishing Powder N Natural Beige
Coffret D'or blush OR24
NYX Taupe and Suede
P&J Pencil Liner 01
MM Automatic Neo Liner BK911
Fairdrops mascara
Dejavu Mascara
I got my order from Bobodave! It got here super fast. I ordered on a Thursday, Bobodave got back to me with the shipping fee really quickly and bam, my package arrived the next Thursday.
I got the famous Taiwanese makeup sponges as seen on Nu Ren Wo Jiu Da(?) and Fuz's review and some masks. I'm SUCH a dumbass for getting the masks on Bobodave because Sasa sold them for a way cheaper price! The Kose Cosmeport Collagen masks went for about $10 on Sasa while Bobodave sold them for $20...argh! I've learned my lesson.. I really just wanted the sponges and thought to add the masks in the cart without thinking. The eye masks are Naris Up Wrinkle Eye Mask for about $11.
I'll let you know how they work out soon!

Here are a few pictures of the weekend. I took a 3hr train ride to Busan with Tim and a few friends. We rented a condo and altogether with the round trip train ticket, the total cost was 110,000won per person. Not a bad deal and look at the view we got from the 16th floor. I forgot which beach we stayed next to, I just know it's Hae-something.

I don't like soju, it tastes really bad, like turpentine or something. I can only take 1 shot of that nasty crap. Soju is super cheap, almost cheaper than bottled water. See my sad bottle of iced tea? Hehe.

Dinner by the beach. A big plate a sashimi which I didn't like, it was very fishy and chewy. We also had some raw shell fish which I also didn't like. It's not like the Japanese sashimi which tastes so much better.

There was a sand festival going on and I snapped a lot of pictures, but here's one. You can see a little boat on top of the whale. The 2 sand pieces connected to each other.

Thankq for all the followers!!!!!! It's almost contest time =D

What Do I Blog Most About?

Skinfood of course!!! So what's new fellow bloggers? I hope everyone's have a good start to the new year.
I got myself another Live Powder Mask, this time the Cacao and Honey one. It is "a facial wash off mask with cacao powder and honey essence for moisturizing dry skin". On the Singapore Skinfood site it says that it's for anti-aging and detoxifying skin.

I think those who are chocoholics would love this mask. When you first pour the powder into the small cup, it smells like cocoa powder then after mixing the essence, it smells just like chocolate cake batter. *drool* I was surprised I didn't try to taste it. The mask was quite liquidy when I applied it, by the time I had to wash it off (3-5 minutes) it dried slightly. I didn't take a picture with the mask on because it looked too weird XD Just picture chocolate cake batter all over my face.

I didn't feel a lot of the moisturizing properties of this mask. It did soften my skin a little bit, but after 2-3 minutes, my face started to feel tight and dry =/ I liked the Rose and Herb Live Powder Mask more because it was more moisturizing.
I don't think I'm going to buy this one again because of that reason. This cost 3000won (about $2.50CAD) and it's enough for one application. This was nothing too special imo, so I think it's safe for anyone to skip this mask.

Remember a few posts back I mentioned that I purchased the Sana Detocrush Gel? It's supposed to be a warming gel scrub that helps break down belly fat. I got it for 23000won and I've been using it for about 2 weeks.

Of course I knew this product was probably not going to work. Like I mentioned in my previous post I think it's just an expensive scrub.
It is a thick amber colored gel with clear smooth scrubbers. There's light scent to it but I can't quite put my finger on what it smells like.
The packaging instructs you to rub it in circles on your lower belly and it's supposed to warm up, but I don't feel it at all.
I use a big enough glob to scrub my stomach area after using soap. In this picture, there's enough for 2 more uses.
In the end I'm not going to purchase this again because my stomach is just the same as when I started using it....of course XD

So does anyone have any major plans this year? Mine are going to Hong Kong, Japan and quite possibly Disney World..again..I went in the fall of 2007 and I wish I was there right now. I also hope that I will be accepted into a university for the BA of Education in September. It is a one year program in Toronto so it's good that it won't take up too much of my time, plus I need to take my TESOL certificate. I can't believe I'm thinking all the way to September already and it's just the beginning of January XD

Sana Eye Concealer

I've been looking for an undereye concealer for a while. I tried the Shu Uemura Pro Concealer, but it was too orangey. I bought it online and it was just a guess on which colour would suit me. Toronto didn't sell Shu Uemura products at that time, but a few weeks later, I saw it at Holt Renfrew, argh! However, I'm sure Holt would have jacked up the price. I got mine for $19.99 from Facial Shop.

My search for an undereye concealer went on, until I saw this Sana Eye Concealer on the Muse and Lotus Palace's page, I decided I had to try it for myself.
I bought this from Sasa for $11.30CAD for 12g. According to the Sasa website (which I'm sure they translated from the packaging) the description of the concealer sounded wonderful.

"Sana Make Essence Eye Concealer completely cover unpleasant dark circle. Light Yellow concealer allows natural result.
4 whitening ingredients: Hyaluronic acid, Collagen, Blueberry Leaf Essence, Carrot Essence. They nourish eye contour areas and restore elasticity of skin. Fatigued eyes are relieved. They also boost metabolism to ease dark circles.
Dense Flexibility Formula brings long-lasting wear."

Sounds great right? I just hope it does help with nourishing my eye as I don't use an eye cream at the moment.
The concealer comes out of a small aluminumish tube with a pointed tip for easy application. The concealer is bright yellow, there's no noticeble smell and it felt like a light cream to me. It made my eye area feel quite smooth.
Sometimes my undereye is bad, depending on how much sleep I get. This product worked at covering the dark area just slightly. It wasn't the best at covering everything, but it did neutralize the darkness a bit. I've read reviews saying how it doesn't do anything, but it worked alright for me.
When I have to go to school, I wake up at 6:30am and I do my makeup at 7:00am. Then my day doesn't end till I get home around 5:15pm. The concealer stayed on pretty well.
The only time there was a slight problem was when I got home at 8:00pm after eating dinner. I noticed a slightly dry cakey look which couldn't be rubbed away by my finger. I have an oily face so this could have contributed to the problem. However, I don't usually have makeup on for such a long time and this is probably because my face was getting all nasty and stuff from a long day.
All in all, I wouldn't buy this concealer again because it didn't really cover much, but I know it'll last me a long time because I just needa tiny bit to do the job.

The colour of the concealer is the exact same colour as the tube. Just a little bit is needed, or else it'll start to sink into my tiny lines and look cakey.

You can see there's only a slight difference. As long as it lightens up the dark circles a bit then I'm satisfied for now. XD

Barbie: The Makeup

Did I excite you with the title? I think every MAC addict will fall in love with this. I'm not a big user of MAC except for their fluidline, even then I don't love it. I first heard of the Barbie line when MAC released their limited edition stuff, of course not being a MAC fan, I didn't buy any of the products. I was browsing around blogs and noticed on Makeup For Life that there was a new makeup collection by Barbie, except it's its own brand rather than teamed up with MAC. I went to search for Barbie and found it at a drugstore. However, for a drugstore brand I think it's quite pricey. I can't remember the prices so you'll have to check out Makeup for Life.

All of the items have a sleek black look to them. The SA put the Sheer Glow Foundation, primer and powder on my hand. There was a set that had the hand cream and powder in it so I asked the SA how much. She told me it was 20000 won. I was so retarded (this is what I get for not knowing Korean), I found out at the cash register that if I get the hand cream and the powder, it would be 20000 won cheaper, kind of like a coupon promo thing. So I ended up not getting either item as the powder was 34000won whoa! The SA probably felt bad so she gave me some samples of the Sheer Glow Foundation. I haven't really tested it out on my face because it's too light for my skintone. The SA kept talking to me in Korean and we had such a hard time understanding each other. She was quite happy to let me know that it was made in Italy and pointed to which shade would suit me. However, her choices were based on the fact that most women liked to have a whiter skintone, so all the shades she chose for me to test were way too light.

So pretty right? I have no clue if it's #1 or #2 shade. I know there are more shades as well, and I'm sure the sample is the wrong choice for me. The SA tested the pressed powders on my hand as well. Sadly it only came in 2 tones: Light Beige and Peach Beige, neither of which suited me. It has a light almost baby powder scent to it. She also showed/told me that I should apply the powder on in sweeping motions and not patting. I also tried the primer. It's a white transparent primer. It was kind of watery, similar to the Laneige emulsions. I'm not sure if there's a scent to it as she put foundation on top already.

I have not tested this on my face as I've already mentioned. Judging by the testing on my hand, it's quite a watery foundation. I put this on the bottom of my forearm when I got home and it kinda slid around a bit if I moved my arm. Even though it had a watery consistency it's not that bad because you know it's a light foundation. It doesn't have super coverage and I believe it's got light-medium coverage. It spreads very smoothly and leaves a dewy almost shiny finish, even though the pamphlet says it's a matte finish. It feels very silky when it settles down though.
I think I'm gonna stick to looking for my HG BB cream first instead of purchasing these XD

My Sasa package arrived! The new Sana undereye concealer and my LE Winter DejaVu Fiberwig *drools*. Will post a review later on.

Remember how I mentioned that a waffle store had a promo? The promo was if you make a 10000won purchase or more, you get a free sample of a Hanskin BB cream. Turns out this sample was a full sized tube of the Super Magic BB Cream (30g). Hanskin has 2 sizes and the waffle place gave out the smaller size. I can't wait to try it!
