This post actually has nothing to do with Mondays, I just don't like the fact that it's the beginning of the week again.
Yesterday night, Tim and I went out with a couple that we met during orientation. We wandered around the Insadong area, known to have the Korean traditional things for tourists. It's got a really nice feel to it during the night, but on Sundays, after 9pm it's dead.
We ate Korean food, of course, and the menu was so hilarious. It's like they went online to a crappy translator or something. Here are the ones I remember:
- fish geography
- marine products with various seasonings
- anything
Annndd I can't remember the rest. I also saw on a nearby restaurant that advertised "a kind of mackerel" Yumm..
I didn't get home until 10:20pm, oh no, it's pass bedtime. I try to sleep at 10 because I wake up at 6:30 everyday. It sucks...
A few days ago, I was waken by the sound of a kitten meowing really loudly outside at 3:45AM. That scared the shit out of me because I had horrible thoughts of what might have happened to the poor thing. Hopefully nothing. Then the next morning as I was going to the apt door (it's a glass sliding door) I saw 2 kittens digging through some used bowls and plates, trying to look for food. People order take out and leave the used dishes on the side of the road to be taken away. Anyway, the kittens freaked out when a girl walked out the door and the ran to the right side of the building where there was a double parking space where people also put garbage. The kittens ran under the cars. I swear they were only about 3 months old. I think I saw the kittens once running across a street towards a nearby university with their mama. But the kittens' mama was no where to be seen. I went to the convenience store next to the parking space to get a sausage. I ripped it up and placed it next to the car where the kittens were hiding under. It took a while for them to come back out, but they scarfed down the sausage. I know it's bad to feed them, but when I see a homeless animal it just breaks my heart. Especially when they're only babies.
This morning I saw one of the kittens. I don't know where the other one went. But this kitten was picking through the garbage bags. I went to the store and got a crab meat stick and tried to give it to the kitten. I don't know if it ate it because I had to rush for the bus.
A few weeks ago, I saw a small dog that was freaking out in another parking space. It still had a leash on too, which was dirty as shit. I gave it a red bean bun and I would have taken the leash off, but it growled at me.
This is such a rant...but I hate when people don't take care of their animals. There's such a thing as neutering/spaying. I also hate when people abandon their animals. Whether or not you want them, the animals are your responsibility. It's not like you throw your kids outside if they're bad right?
On a lighter note, all my grade 9 classes are cancelled this week because of their exams. Tomorrow I only have 1 class to teach. I usually have 3 classes that are grade 9's and 1 grade 7 class. Sweet..procrastination here I come.
